About Me

Scott Pender
BappSc (Human Biology), M.Ost

Having left a successful 12 year career in IT in 2006 to pursue my new osteopathic career, I graduated from the Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Biology and a Master of Osteopathy before registering with the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand in 2011.

i have always enjoyed playing various sports such as cricket, rugby, martial arts and currently enjoy a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic fitness training and occasional tramping. I am still involved in playing cricket and currently represent the Wellington/Tasman region in the Over 50's competition as well as having been involved as part of a NZ Development team for the last three years competing in the Australian State Championships. I also had the privilege to be part of the NZ 'Graycaps' support team as the team Osteopath for the Over 50's World Cup in Capetown in 2022 in which NZ finished a creditable 3rd place.

I trained as a Level II Certified MovNat (Natural Movement) coach. Natural Movement breaks down our normal inherent human movement patterns which are stored in our DNA - Mobility skills: e.g. ground movement progressions, crawling, walking, running, jumping, climbing, balancing and Manipulative skills: e.g. throwing, catching, lifting. These fundamental movement patterns can be broken down and retaught as more efficient movement patterns and also turned into combinations and used for exercise routines - bringing the "play" back into exercise!

I am actively pursuing continued development within the exciting fields of osteopathy, rehabilitation and general movement exploration.
